Florida running back Montrell Johnson Jr. has declared for the 2025 NFL Draft, he announced on X on Sunday.

Johnson rushed for 593 yards and six touchdowns on 100 carries for the Gators in 2024. He missed time with an injury this past season but has an opportunity to showcase his skills further having already accepted an invitation to both the 2025 Hula Bowl and the 2025 East-West Shrine Bowl.

He spent three seasons at UF, having transferred to Florida in 2022 after spending his freshman season at Louisiana. He followed Billy Napier to Florida that offseason.

Overall, he has 569 rushes to his credit with 3,089 yards and 33 total touchdowns across four years of college football. He’s also been a threat in the receiving game, hauling in 61 catches for 411 yards and a pair of touchdowns to boot.

He released a statement to go with his NFL Draft declaration as well.

“First off, I want to thank God for blessing me with the talent to play this game and be a difference for the people around me,” it read. “I would not be here today without His grace and glory. I want to thank my family and everyone who has been a part of my journey for keeping me motivated and focused throughout the years. Thank you to my mom for speaking life into me and encouraging me through all the hard times.

“I also want to thank all the coaches that have been in my life from park ball to now. Thank y’all for believing in me and giving me the blueprint to be great! Thank you to Gator Nation for welcoming me in with open arms and being with me through all the ups and downs. You all have made this home for me and a place where I can come back to any time.

“With that being said, I want to announce that I am declaring for the 2025 NFL Draft! I pray that God continues to guide me through my journey in the NFL.”
