Report: Florida signee Jayden Dubanewicz signs with Milwaukee Brewers

A Florida baseball signee has now reportedly inked a deal with a Major League Baseball club after his selection in the 2024 MLB Draft, with right-handed pitcher Jayden Dubanewicz signing with the Milwaukee Brewers.
According to freelance reporter David Rosenberg, Dubanewicz has signed and the bonus value for his deal is worth $665,000.
Florida, of course, would have hoped to get Dubanewicz to school.
The Brewers opted to spend a 16th-round pick on the talented 6-foot-3, 170-pound pitcher from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. So what are they getting, exactly?
Jayden Dubanewicz was rated as the No. 500 overall player in the last draft cycle by Perfect Game. He checked in as the No. 263 right-handed pitcher.
MaxPreps.com lists Dubanewicz with seven wins as a high school senior in 13 games played, sporting a 1.52 ERA across 60.0 innings pitched. Opponents hit just .159 off him.
Florida gets Colby Shelton back
While the Gators have missed out on Jayden Dubanewicz, they did get some positive news earlier this week when shortstop Colby Shelton announced his return to school.

Shelton announced his decision Monday morning after being picked by the Washington Nationals in the 20th round of the MLB Draft earlier this month.
A transfer, Shelton was a tremendous player at Alabama and mostly continued that level of success at Florida. As a freshman in 2023 with the Crimson Tide, Shelton earned Freshman All-American honors from Collegiate Baseball News, D1Baseball.com, Baseball America and the NCBWA. Shelton was also named to the Freshman All-SEC team.
Shelton didn’t quite have the same level of productivity at Florida, but still put together a solid season for the Gators. Shelton hit .254 with 20 home runs, 14 doubles and a triple, for a slugging percentage of .551 in his first season at Florida. He struck out 82 times in 256 at-bats while drawing 35 walks. He finished the 2024 season with 56 RBI.
That came on the heels of a season where he hit .300 at Alabama with 25 home runs, 10 doubles and a triple. He added 51 RBI and scored 49 runs, while adding 33 walks and 10 hits-by-pitch. Shelton set the Alabama single-season home run record for freshmen by a considerable margin.
