Florida State and Notre Dame will get the primetime treatment in Week 11. They will square off under the lights at Notre Dame Stadium, and the early point spread has been released.

The Fighting Irish opened as 23.5-point favorites against the Seminoles, according to FanDuel. The over-under also opened at 43.5 points.

Notre Dame had a bye in Week 10 after a resounding victory over Navy. The Fighting Irish defense forced six turnovers en route to the 51-14 to not only get another win over a ranked opponent, but also keep their College Football Playoff hopes alive.

As for Florida State, it’s been a year filled with struggles following last year’s ACC title. The Seminoles took just a 1-7 record into a Week 10 matchup against North Carolina, with the lone win coming in Week 3 against Cal.

Notre Dame started the year out strong with a road win over Texas A&M in primetime, but the Irish’s College Football Playoff hopes became uncertain after a Week 2 loss to Northern Illinois. But Marcus Freeman’s group responded well, rattling off six straight wins since – including two over ranked opponents.

Freeman still uses clips of that Week 2 loss to motivate his team. His reasoning is simple. He doesn’t want the players to forget the feeling of walking off the field after that type of loss.

“Listen, I don’t do it every day, but the most important thing is we can’t lose the pain,” Freeman said. “That’s what I want to make sure guys understand, is that you can’t lose the pain. I don’t want to lose the pain from that game because, at times, we are motivated by fear. At times, we are motivated by, ‘We don’t want this to repeat itself.’

“So there’s times I got to remind them of that pain so that we can make sure we don’t forget it. We got to use that. As I said, ‘We’re going to be grateful for it if we utilize it. If we learn from the lessons that it’s taught us.’ But when you have success, sometimes you forget about that pain of what NIU left in all of our hearts and our guts. And so there’s moments that I want to reflect on that, and I don’t want them to lose it, and that’s kind of when I use it for motivation.”
