Former Alabama football star Eddie Lacy responds to fan over weight-gain joke
Former Alabama and Green Bay Packers running back Eddie Lacy took a hilarious shot at a fan who joked about his weight on Wednesday. Lacy played five seasons in the NFL after being a star for Alabama during their 2011-12 championship-winning seasons. Lacy entered the league as a physically dominant running back at 231 pounds in the NFL Combine and earned All-Pro honors in his rookie season, as well as being named Offensive Rookie of the Year.
After four years with Green Bay, Lacy joined the Seattle Seahawks and made the roster despite concerns about his weight. His 2017 season with the Seahawks was his final season in the league after being drafted in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft.
Eddie Lacy fires back at weight joke
After a fan online took a joke post from Facebook and shared it on his Twitter and messaged Lacy directly, Lacy didn’t take long to fire back about the guy who posted it. The image showed an overweight man lining up on a field without a shirt with a fake caption that the Packers were re-signing Lacy to play tight end for them.
Lacy fired back at the fan who messaged him, saying that he looked far rounder in shape and closer to the picture than Lacy ever did.

During his time with the Packers, Lacy became the source of multiple jokes from the sports world about his weight after he reached 267 pounds as a running back. Lacy’s power translated to on-field success early in his career, but weight concerns became an issue for him going forward in the league — including a $55,000 bonus being included in his contract if he could maintain his weight on the Seahawks.
Lacy battled questions about his weight from fans and media throughout his career, so it’s no surprise the issue is still a sore subject for the former star.
“I’m not the smallest person,” Lacy said during his NFL career. “Brandon Jacobs wasn’t the smallest person. Jerome Bettis wasn’t the smallest person. Some people can just play like that, not that I’m Jerome Bettis’ weight or nothing like that. I’m just saying, not everybody’s meant to look like Adrian Peterson or somebody like that.”
