Offensive coordinator Joe Brady and the Carolina Panthers had a messy breakup. Head coach Matt Rhule was critical of the play calling at times and fired Brady in the middle of the season.

Even so, Brady is still going to get another chance in the NFL. According to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, the Buffalo Bills have hired Brady to be their new quarterbacks coach. He will be replacing Ken Dorsey, who was recently promoted to offensive coordinator.

Brady will now be working with one of the best young quarterbacks in all of football, Josh Allen. The former first-round pick threw for 4,407 yards, 36 touchdowns, and 15 interceptions this season. Allen was just seconds away from bringing the Bills to the AFC Championship after an all-time performance.

Brady became a popular name in the coaching world after working with the 2019 LSU national championship team. Players such as Joe Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase, Justin Jefferson, and Clyde Edwards-Helaire dominated the college football world thanks to the offensive innovation of Brady.

Outside of the NFL, Brady was also a candidate for potential college football offensive coordinator jobs as well. His name was thrown around to join Mario Cristobal and the Miami Hurricanes.

However, working with Allen and the Bills ended up being the decision.

Carolina Panthers replace Joe Brady as offensive coordinator

The Carolina Panthers are in need of a remodel to their offense before the start of next season, and on Monday, they announced the architect that will be in charge. The Panthers announced that they have agreed to terms with Ben McAdoo to become their new offensive coordinator. He’ll take over in Carolina for Joe Brady, who was fired in December. The Panthers went 5-12 this season after starting the year 3-0.

McAdoo, who is the former head coach of the New York Giants from 2016-2017, has 15 years’ worth of NFL experience. During his time as New York’s headman, McAdoo totaled a 13-15 record — and the two years were drastically different. The Giants went 11-5 in his first year, but went just 2-10 before they fired him the next season.

The pinnacle of his success would be the aforementioned stop with the Giants, where he spent two seasons at the helm. In his 2016 season with New York, they ended the year as the NFL’s least penalized team and were 8-3 in one-score games. In comparison, the Panthers finished this season 2-6 and one-score games and were one of the league’s most penalized teams ranking in the bottom 10.
