Shedeur Sanders is scheduled to visit the Pittsburgh Steelers later this week, per FOX Sports’ Jordan Schultz. The Steelers have the No. 21 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

While it’s unlikely Sanders falls that far in the draft, the Steelers could trade up for the QB. After all, the organization is in need of a QB after Justin Fields and Russell Wilson each signed with other teams as free agents this offseason.

In ESPN analyst Mel Kiper Jr.’s latest NFL mock draft, he projected Sanders to be the No. 10 overall pick. Numerous other mock drafts predict Sanders will be selected by the New York Giants with the No. 3 overall pick.

If the Steelers decide to go after Sanders, they’ll have to be willing to make some sacrifices. After all, Sanders was a standout this past season at Colorado, tallying 4,134 passing yards, 37 touchdowns and four rushing scores while completing 74% of his pass attempts.

For his efforts, he was named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year and an AP Second-Team All-American. Additionally, he won the Johnny Unitas Award, annually given to the best QB in college football.

Sanders owns the Colorado single-season records for passing yards, completions, attempts, touchdowns, completion percentage and quarterback rating. Moreover, he boasts the 14th-most passing yards in NCAA Division I history.

The Steelers could use a player with Sanders’ passing ability leading their offense. Last season, the Steelers only averaged 192.0 passing yards per game, the sixth least in the NFL. Earlier this week, Mel Kiper Jr. weighed in on the Steelers potentially trading up for Sanders.

“Shedeur is the interesting one because if gets in that middle portion of Round 1… it’ll be interesting if he gets past New Orleans [at No. 9],” Kiper said. “When you look at where we are right now with the Steelers, they’ve gone 21 years since they’ve had a losing season, but they’ve gone nine years without winning a playoff game. So, it’s all about quarterback play.

“… The Steelers have to be aggressive because if Shedeur gets to the middle of the first round, I do believe you could see maybe the Giants or somebody else go up and get him ahead of them. So, it’ll be interesting to see if they wait to see if he falls in their lap or if they make a move to get Shedeur Sanders.”

The Steelers won’t have much longer to make a decision. The NFL Draft will take place from April 24-26 at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
