Since his retirement from the NFL, Barber has struggled with a series of post-career incidents — including being detained in 2014 and placed in a hospital for a mental health evaluation. Barber was also arrested in 2019 for misdemeanor counts of criminal mischief after an incident where he was alleged to have damaged two vehicles.

Nearly one year ago, former Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant commented on a video showcasing Barber’s highlights on Twitter — explaining that he couldn’t enjoy watching it because he knew how rough Barber’s life was going at the time.

“As I watch this video and me knowing exactly how Marion Barber life is going right now today is why I built Personal Corner. I can’t even enjoy it because he’s down and out bad. We are just a stat and moments to most people,” said Bryant.

At this time there are no details regarding the circumstances of his death available.
