Former Dallas Cowboys safety Damontae Kazee scheduled to visit NFC contender
Former Dallas Cowboys safety Damontae Kazee is still on the hunt for his next organization. The free agent is reportedly visiting the Seattle Seahawks on Tuesday, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. The Seahawks are looking to add a defensive back ahead of the draft and the fifth-year veteran fits the bill.
Kazee wrapped up one season with Dallas before hitting free agency. Drafted in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL Draft out of San Diego State, he spent the first four seasons of his NFL career with the Atlanta Falcons. The defensive back signed with the Cowboys in the offseason, reuniting with Dallas defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, who was the head coach in Atlanta from 2015-2020.
In 2021, Kazee had 52 total tackles (35 solo), two forced fumbles and two picks in 17 games. In his four seasons with Atlanta, he recorded 199 tackles, three tackles for loss, 10 interceptions, five forced fumbles and 13 passes deflected.
This season, Kazee, 28, was pulled over for a traffic violation outside of Dallas early on a Tuesday morning and failed a sobriety test after showing signs of impairment. He was charged with DWI, a class B misdemeanor for a first offense. He ultimately posted a $2,500 bond.
Former Dallas Cowboys linebacker arrested on serious charges
Police arrested former Dallas Cowboys linebacker Damien Wilson in Frisco, Texas, last week. Wilson now faces a charge of assault with bodily injury of a family member, Frisco police Sgt. Stephen Byrom told the Dallas Morning News.

According to the report, Wilson’s ex-girlfriend said he threatened to kill her with a tire iron. She also alleges that he destroyed her laptop after a breakup. Wilson’s attorney, Toby Shook, denied the assault allegations, saying “Damien Wilson did not commit any type of assault. We look forward to all the facts coming out so his name can be cleared.”
Wilson, who signed with the Carolina Panthers last month, is still on the team’s roster as of Monday. A team spokesperson noted that the organization was aware of allegations against Wilson.
The current Panthers linebacker cut his teeth in college at Minnesota before going in the fourth round to the Cowboys in the 2015 NFL Draft. Wilson spent four seasons in Dallas, playing all 16 games each season.
After his stint in Dallas, Wilson moved on to Kansas City for two seasons where he played a major role on defense to help lead the defensive effort in a Super Bowl victory over the San Francisco 49ers in 2020. He joined a rebuilding situation with the Jacksonville Jaguars last season.
