Report: Former Iowa CB Cooper DeJean to skip NFL Combine workouts while still rehabbing leg
Iowa cornerback Cooper DeJean will be one of the most intriguing prospects in this year’s NFL Draft, but NFL teams won’t have a chance to check him out physically at this year’s NFL Combine.
According to a report from Dane Brugler of The Athletic, DeJean won’t test at next week’s NFL Combine due to a late-season leg injury he sustained.
DeJean plans to work out for teams at a later date before the 2024 NFL Draft.
The Iowa superstar should be one of the top prospects on the board for most teams at cornerback following a tremendous career with the Hawkeyes. He set some school history while at Iowa, returning three interceptions for touchdowns during his 2022 campaign to tie the program’s career mark in that category.
Cooper DeJean finished the 2023 season as a unanimous consensus All-American, a first-team selection by the AFCA, FWAA, The Athletic, CBS, Phil Steele, Sports Illustrated (return specialist), Walter Camp, Associated Press, and Sporting News.
Suffice it to say he was kind of a big deal.
As a third-year player in 2023, DeJean started in 10 games before an injury in practice derailed his season. He recorded 41 tackles, 2.0 tackles for a loss, two interceptions and seven passes defended.
