Former Miami star signs with Chiefs, apologizes amid Tyreek Hill trade
Former Miami Hurricanes star Deon Bush walked into one of the biggest NFL storylines of the offseason on accident Wednesday morning, signing for the Kansas City Chiefs moments before they agreed to trade wide receiver Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins. The poor timing set up a funny but awkward exchange between the new signing and the fanbase.
After agreeing to sign with the Chiefs, Deon Bush wanted to show his support for the fans, tweeting at them with an introduction. “What’s up Chiefs Kingdom,” he said.
Little did he know, the timing would prove unfortunate as the Chiefs worked out the final details of a mega-trade sending All-Pro and Kansas City legend Tyreek Hill to a new team. Recognizing the mood of the fanbase, Bush went back onto Twitter to apologize and send his condolences.
“My bad y’all,” he posted. “I’ll hit y’all back later.”
While Bush adds needed depth to the secondary after the departure of another team legend, Tyrann Mathieu, he must now wait for the emotions to cool down before ingratiating himself with Chiefs fans.
Bush previously spent six seasons with the Chicago Bears, who drafted him No. 124 overall in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL Draft. He has appeared in 79 career games with 12 starts, recording 89 tackles with three interceptions over his career.

Chiefs trade Tyreek Hill
The Chiefs have shaken up the NFL with the latest blockbuster trade of an insane off-season. According to a report from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero, superstar wide receiver Tyreek Hill is being dealt to the Miami Dolphins.
“Here it is: The #Chiefs are trading six-time Pro Bowl WR Tyreek Hill to the #Dolphins, sources tell me and @TomPelissero,” tweeted Rapoport. “The return is a first-round pick and more, while Hill gets a contract extension that puts him among the highest paid WRs in the NFL.
“Full picks: 2022-1 2022-2 2022-4 2023-4 2023-6.”
Throughout his career, Hill has used his blazing-speed to evolve into one of the league’s top wide receivers. Possessing an innate connection with Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, the duo has been unstoppable at times.
In six seasons in Kansas City, Hill has accumulated 479 receptions, 6630 receiving yards and 56 receiving touchdowns. Additionally, Hill has been a weapon in the run game and on special teams, adding 719 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns, while scoring four touchdowns on special teams, as well.
