Former Michigan wide receiver Roman Wilson is happy for former Wolverines head coach Jim Harbaugh, who was recently hired as the head coach of the Los Angeles Chargers.

Wilson was aware of Harbaugh’s desire to win a Super Bowl and is thankful he will get the opportunity to do so in Los Angeles. Wilson joined the NFL Network on Tuesday after finishing up practice at the Senior Bowl in Mobile.

“Coach Harbaugh going to the NFL, I just feel like he’s got a little itch to win a Super Bowl,” Roman Wilson said. “That’s what he wants. He accomplished what he wanted in college, and I feel like this is his opportunity to take it to the next level, and good for him. I’m happy for him.”

Jim Harbaugh spent nine seasons at his alma mater of Michigan and really got things going his last three years in Ann Arbor.

The Wolverines won the Big Ten all three of those seasons, reaching the College Football Playoff all three years. Harbaugh capped his time in Michigan with a national title, beating Washington 34-13 in the national championship game.

Roman Wilson was a big part of Michigan’s title run.

The Hawaii native caught 48 passes for 789 yards and 12 touchdowns as a senior, including seven receptions for 127 yards and a touchdown in playoff games against Alabama and Washington.

After helping Harbaugh win a national title at Michigan, Wilson would love to be drafted by the Los Angeles Chargers and help Harbaugh win a Super Bowl next.

“I hope he drafts me. That’d be a great thing,” Wilson said. “If I can help him do that then that’d be good for me, too.”

Either way, Wilson just wants to be drafted and to get an opportunity somewhere in the NFL. He is currently being projected to go in the late first round or early second round.

“If you get drafted it’s a win. All you need is an opportunity,” he said.

Wilson will certainly be drafted somewhere after a strong senior season and an excellent start to Senior Bowl week. Wilson turned heads all afternoon in Mobile, and his stock appears to be on the rise.

“It was amazing,” Wilson said of his first day at the Senior Bowl. “I just come out here, focus on the details, focus on my routes, focus on catching the ball, just listen to my coaches, praying to God and just coming out here and doing what I do best, and that’s playing football.”
