Unforutnate news out of Stallings, North Carolina. Former NASCAR team owner and crew chief Bob Rahilly was injured in a house fire. Rahilly was the co-owner of RahMoc Enterprises from the 1980s up to 2000. He has served as crew chief for FDNY Racing for multiple years.

Bob Rahilly was injured in a house fire on January 12, 2025. According to FDNY Racing, he suffered 3rd-degree burns and other injuries. According to the team, Bob will be out for two months.

FDNY Racing, with Bob as crew chief, finished P9 at Daytona last year in the season-opener. Bryan Dauzat was the driver for that effort. It was the best finish for the team since 2018.

According to WBTV 3 news, the fire originated at Rahilly’s home. It was a large fire that required multiple fire departments to put out the flames. Rahilly’s husband posted an update about the crew chief’s recovery and injuries. He was burned and also cut by an exploding glass door.

Our thoughts are with FDNY Racing, Bob Rahilly and his family. Hopefully, Rahilly will make a full recovery and be back calling races on the pit box later this season.

Bob Rahilly worked with biggest names in NASCAR

When he was a team owner, Bob Rahilly had quite a driver lineup. Never sticking with one driver for too long, some of the biggest names came through RahMoc Enterprises. Harry Gant, Kyle Petty, Tim Richmond, Neil Bonnett, Joe Ruttman, Morgan Shepherd, Dick Trickle, Todd Bodine, and so many more raced for the organization.

Neil Bonnett delivered the only wins for the team. He won two races in the 1983 season and when he came back in 1988 he won two more. Those four were all RahMoc would claim during their years in the Cup Series.

Still, Rahilly and his family have been an important piece of NASCAR history. When you see the names that came through there and learned under Rahilly and everyone that was part of the organization it is impressive. These are the teams that made NASCAR what it is today.

The news of Bob Rahilly’s injuries is unfortunate to hear. FDNY Racing is a small, close team. It sounds like he is on the mend and on the path to being back at the track and the garage.
