Former NFL cornerback Adam 'Pacman' Jones arrested after flight removal at Kentucky airport

Former NFL cornerback Adam ‘Pacman’ Jones was arrested and booked into Boone County Detention Center on Monday morning, according to WKRC, after he was removed from an early morning flight out of the Cincinnati Northern Kentucky International Airport.

Airport police arrived on the scene of a flight attempting to depart from CVG where they removed Jones around 6 a.m. The airport police took him into custody as an unruly passenger then transported him to Boone County Detention Center. Charges against him are pending, according to the jail’s website.

A CVG spokesperson released a brief statement:

“Airport police were called at 0600 to assist flight crew on an outbound flight about an unruly passenger. Passenger was arrested prior to takeoff and taken to Boone Country Detention Center.”

Jones ends career in Denver

The former first-round draft pick out of West Virginia played 12 seasons in the NFL at cornerback. He went No. 6 overall to the Tennessee Titans in 2005. He joined the Dallas Cowboys for one season in 2008, then landed on the Bengals roster in 2010. Jones played eight seasons for Cincinnati before ending his career with one season for the Denver Broncos.

Jones, an Atlanta, Georgia native, tallied 508 career tackles with 17 interceptions and seven forced fumbles. He earned a first-team All-Pro nod in 2014 and made the Pro Bowl in 2015.

The now-39-year-old announced his retirement in May of 2019 after playing seven games for the Broncos the previous season.

Over his career, Jones made $39 million in salary earnings. He did have to miss out on over a million dollars in the 2007 season when the league suspended him for 16 games.

According to an ESPN report at the time, Jones’ off-field conduct included ’10 incidents where he was interviewed by police.’ In Las Vegas during the NBA All-Star weekend, Jones was involved in a fight and shooting at a strip club that paralyzed one man.

In 2021, Jones was convicted of assault for an incident at Clutch OTR in Cincinnati. A judge sentenced him to 180 days in jail but suspended all but 30 days of the sentence. In another case in 2019, reached a plea agreement to resolve charges stemming from a February arrest at an Indiana casino. He entered a guilty plea to one count of felony cheating at gambling and one count of misdemeanor resisting law enforcement and spent 10 days behind bars.
