Former NFL GM Mike Tannenbaum releases full first round mock draft on ESPN

Mock draft season is rolling along with less than a month to go until teams and prospects head to Kansas City for the 2023 NFL Draft. ESPN analyst and former NFL general manager Mike Tannenbaum released his mock draft Tuesday — and it features some surprises at the top.

The top four picks are about as expected with Bryce Young, CJ Stroud, Will Anderson and Will Levis coming off the board. Then, at No. 5, things get interesting. That’s where Tannenbaum has the Seattle Seahawks drafting Hendon Hooker, the former Tennessee quarterback who’s coming off a torn ACL. Hooker put together a strong year for the Vols in 2022, but hasn’t appeared in many mock drafts largely due to his injury.

Tannenbaum argued the decision to re-sign Geno Smith could be the reason the Seahawks explore Hooker with the No. 5 pick.

Additionally, former Florida quarterback Anthony Richardson has also been projected to be a top-10 draft pick, but Tannenbaum has him going No. 11 overall to the Tennessee Titans. Another potential top-10 pick — former Georgia star Jalen Carter — was the No. 18 pick in Tannenbaum’s mock draft.
