Former NFL GM Mike Tannenbaum predicts big season ahead for Jordan Love, Packers: 'This team is absolutely loaded'

The Packers enter year three of the Jordan Love era this fall. In both of his first two seasons he’s led Green Bay to winning records and consecutive playoff berths, and former NFL executive Mike Tannenbaum is expecting more of the same success to follow Love into 2025.
There has been concern about Love starting off the season slow after doing so in each of the last two seasons, including leading the Packers to an 0-2 start in 2024. In 2023, Green Bay began the season with a 2-5 record before winning seven of their last 10 games.
“Jordan Love is going to get off to a great start” Tannenbaum assured Packers fans during an appearance on SportsCenter. “Finally, they’ve got a first-round receiver in Matthew Golden — that’s what this offense has been missing.
“If you take away a handful of throws from him where he had 11 interceptions last year, we could be talking about an MVP. This team is absolutely loaded. He’s gotten off to slow starts, but he’s going to get off to a better start, learn from his past, get Matthew Golden going and they are going to be on fire.”
Golden was selected No. 23 overall by the Packers during April’s 2025 NFL Draft. Before turning pro, Golden was a standout wide receiver for both Houston and Texas. The Packers’ selection of Golden ended a 23-year run of Green Bay bypassing receiving talent in the first round of the NFL Draft.

Couple that with Love coming into his own as a starting quarterback, and Tannenbaum sees no reason why the Packers can’t continue to enjoy success under head coach Matt LeFleur. It might easier said than done, however.
Looking to build on their 11-6 finish in 2024, the Packers will have their work cut out for them along the way. According to CBS, Green Bay is tied for having the fifth-hardest schedule in the NFL this coming season based on the combined 2024 record of all 17 of their opponents. On top of their NFC North matchups, Green Bay also features contests against the Washington Commanders, Cincinnati Bengals, Pittsburgh Steelers, Philadelphia Eagles, Denver Broncos and Baltimore Ravens.
This gives Jordan Love no shortage of opportunities to prove himself as an MVP-caliber player this fall, like Tannenbaum noted. Based on his success during his first two years as Packers QB1, Love could be well on his way.
