Former NFL player Daniel Muir charged with domestic battery, obstruction as police find missing son
Former NFL defensive lineman Daniel Muir has been charged with domestic battery and obstruction of justice this week after the Indiana State Police found his missing son, Bryson, safe, at home after a two-week-long investigation on Wednesday. Muir’s wife, Kristin, is also facing an obstruction charge after the 14-year-old boy’s grandmother called to report abuse against him by his father and his parents allegedly hid him from the police as they investigated.
Muir’s son had allegedly received a beating from his father that resulted in a split lip, black eye and swollen face. According to Indiana State Police, the couple were taken into custody from their home in Logansport. Bryson Muir, who officially went “missing” in June, was released to the care and custody of the Cass County Department of Child Services.
Daniel Muir served as the Pastor at Straitway Truth Ministries in Logansport, Indiana after playing in the NFL from 2007-2013. He married Kristin in 2009 after they met at Kent State where he played defensive tackle.
After going undrafted in the 2007 NFL draft, Muir joined the Green Bay Packers. He played in three games and recorded eight tackles as a rookie before the team released him. He moved to Indianapolis for his first stint with the Colts in 2008. Muir played for the Colts for three seasons before signing a deal with the St. Louis Rams. He returned for a time with the Colts and the Packers before bouncing around from the Jets to the Chiefs, then the Texans and Raiders.

Jets head coach Robert Saleh said his quarterback’s absence was not excused. Once that got out, there were a lot of theories and speculation as to why Rodgers was not with the team.
But this was a long time in the works, according to Hughes.
“Rodgers originally pieced this trip together during his recovery from his Achilles injury,” Hughes wrote. “It gave him something to look forward to during one of the lowest points of his career. He’s long admired Egyptian culture and scheduled the visit for what was believed to be after the offseason programs.
“The Jets were made aware of the trip when the official minicamp dates were announced (June 11, 12) and overlapped with Rodgers’ plans. While an unexcused absence, the team is not concerned, sources told SNY, that this will impact Rodgers’ season. They wanted him at minicamp but were understanding of how important this trip was for him. As one source put it: Rodgers’ absence during the two-day minicamp will not impact the Jets season whatsoever.”
Rodgers attended every day of the team’s Phase 1 voluntary workouts and only missed one week of Phase 2.
