Former NFL receiver Braylon Edwards predicts Aaron Rodgers to win MVP in 2023
Aaron Rodgers is supposed to bring the top-notch quarterback play that the Jets have been searching for to New York this season. That’s the expectation in The Big Apple and now is the expectation of former NFL WR Braylon Edwards.
Edwards, who played 31 games as a Jet over his eight-year career, recently made an appearance at New York’s training camp. He then shared a tweet after his visit that featured a picture of him and Rodgers and stated that A-Rod would be picking up the fifth MVP award of his career and third in the past four seasons.
Even at 40, Rodgers is still one of the league’s best quarterbacks and players. That’s why his move from Green Bay to New York was such a seismic shift in the AFC East, the AFC, and the NFL as a whole.
To be clear, 2022 wasn’t Rodgers’ best as he didn’t cross 4,000 passing yards in a fully healthy season since 2015 and he threw the second most interceptions of his career with a dozen.
Still, in 2020 and 2021 with the Packers, he went two for two when it came to Most Valuable Player. In those two seasons, he threw for over 8,400 yards, 85 touchdowns, and just nine interceptions on a 69.8% completion rate. That helped lead Green Bay to a 27-9 record and a pair of playoff appearances with the franchise reaching the NFC Championship in ’20.

There’s no guarantee that this experiment is going to work. However, if we get another MVP year from Rodgers like Edwards is suggesting, he could be the missing piece at quarterback for an offense that’s been consistently brutal for quite some time.
Rodgers says Garrett Wilson has the ‘potential to be really special’
Aaron Rodgers didn’t hold back when talking about his young teammate in Garrett Wilson.
The second-year receiver out of Ohio State now has a future Hall of Famer tossing him the football this season and could be Rodgers’ favorite target. Perhaps Wilson is the next star No. 17 to catch passes from Rodgers.
“I think pretty quick,” Rodgers said during the Jets’ preseason opener regarding how quickly Wilson can be great. “I think (the receiving group is a bunch of) smart guys. They’re talented guys. And that’s what we did a lot in the offseason, during the OTA time was just a lot of conversation around what we’re trying to do or what we’re trying to accomplish, what to be ready for.
“But, Garrett, he’s a special talent. And, obviously, you know, Joe has done a great job of drafting the offensive and defensive rookie of the year last year with, you know, my new best friend Sauce (Gardner) and Garrett is just one amazing kid.”
