Former Ohio State quarterback Kyle McCord knows Arizona Cardinals rookie receiver Marvin Harrison Jr.‘s game as well as anyone. The two were not only together at Ohio State for three seasons, but they were also stars on the same high school team.

McCord and Harrison formed a lethal combination last season, with Harrison catching 67 passes for 1,211 yards and 14 touchdowns. He was named the Biletnikoff Award winner and a Heisman finalist thanks to his strong play.

Kyle McCord, who is entering his first season as the quarterback at Syracuse, spoke at the ACC Football Kickoff event this past week about Marvin Harrison Jr. and what kind of receiver he will be in the NFL.

“He’s the best receiver I’ve ever been around, that I’ve ever seen in person,” Kyle McCord said. “I think you take away obviously his physical traits that you can see when you turn on the tape, just a great guy on and off the field. I obviously went to high school with him so I’ve known him a while now. Extremely hard worker.”

Ohio State had a really good season in 2023, even though it ended in disappointment. The Buckeyes got off to an 11-0 start before dropping games with Michigan and Missouri to end the year.

Still, the Buckeyes had a loaded roster, and McCord insists that Marvin Harrison Jr. stood out above the rest.

“Was the hardest working guy in the facility last year. And I think he’s just a pro,” McCord said. “I think that’s the biggest thing I can say about Marvin. He takes it extremely serious and has dedicated his life to it.”

Kyle McCord ‘grateful’ for time at Ohio State, what he’s brought with him to Syracuse

Kyle McCord has three years of experience from his time at a big brand program like Ohio State. He now has one year left to bring with him what all he learned as a Buckeye to the Orange at Syracuse.

McCord discussed his collegiate career while in Columbus while at ACC Media Days in Charlotte on Thursday. He expressed his gratitude for his opportunity there as a reserve for two seasons before being their starting quarterback last fall.

“Truly grateful for my three years at Ohio State,” said Kyle McCord. “I got to sit behind CJ (Stroud) for two years, learned a lot from him. Then I had the opportunity to start there last year.

“I think just the biggest thing I’ve been focusing on is the biggest thing is winning and the product that you put on the field. That’s kind of the message to the team. No matter what happens at the end of the day? Like, when we go out on the field, we’re going to have to compete. We’re going to have to win. We’re going to have to be tough.”
