Former Patriots, Titans cornerback Logan Ryan announces retirement from NFL
Veteran NFL cornerback Logan Ryan has announced his retirement after spending 11 seasons in the league. Ryan shared the news on X (formerly known as Twitter) on Tuesday morning.
“Man, what a great career, what a ride it was,” Logan said in a video posted to his X account. “Beautiful journey of highs and lows … Shout out to my friends, my family, my teammates, all those who supported me. I try to play the right way, I try to play my hardest at all times.
“Shout out to the New England Patriots. Thank you for drafting me, believing in me, making me a two-time Super Bowl champion. Thank you to the Tennessee Titans for bringing me down there, becoming a franchise player, and supporting RARF — my animal foundation was birthed there and you guys took that in. We did so much on and off the field with the playoff runs.
Ryan went on to thank the New York Giants, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and San Francisco 49ers as he played for those teams following his time with the Patriots and Titans. “I’m so blessed and I wouldn’t want to change it for the world,” Ryan added. “Thank you once again. Logan Ryan, two-time Super Bowl champ, is out. But stay tuned, we got a lot in store.”

Logan Ryan came close to not playing in 2023
Ryan, 33, was selected in the third round of the NFL Draft by the Patriots and helped the team win the Super Bowl during the 2014 and 2016 seasons. In 2017, Ryan signed a three-year, $30 million deal with the Titans and was with the team for three seasons before joining the Giants. Ryan played for the Giants for two seasons before signing with the Buccaneers in 2022. He signed with the 49ers in December 49ers and helped the team reach the Super Bowl.
Ryan told the New York Post in Janurary he was planning to return to the league before the 49ers called. “I was really at peace with what I’d done, and I wanted to just get stability for my family now,” Ryan told The Post. “I told a couple teams ‘no’ this year. But I have a lot of respect for how the 49ers play. I watched all their film while on the cruise, and I felt like I could fit into the defense. I told my wife, ‘It’s 68 days until the Super Bowl,’ and she was excited about it. There were only a few teams in the league I would do this for.”
