Former Minnesota Vikings linebacker Eric Wilson has signed with the Green Bay Packers ahead of their trip to London this week. His most recent NFL stop came on the practice squad of the New Orleans Saints, setting up a potential piece of history in Sunday’s game.

To the knowledge of ESPN’s Field Yates, who reported the signing on Wednesday, Eric Wilson could become the first player on the roster of an NFL team playing in London over back-to-back weeks. Although he did not see the field against his former team in Week 4, he could get an opportunity as a member of the active roster against the New York Giants.

Over his career, Wilson has registered 280 tackles with eight sacks and four interceptions. The former undrafted free agent out of Cincinnati started his career with four seasons in Minnesota before splitting time in 2021 between the Houston Texans and Philadelphia Eagles.

Packers tie Bears for NFL record

The Green Bay Packers defeated the New England Patriots on Sunday afternoon 27-24, thanks to a game-winning kick from Mason Crosby in overtime. With the victory, the Packers moved to 3-1 overall for the 2022 season. They also accomplished some rarified NFL history. The win also marked the 785th win for the Green Bay franchise. That ties them with the Chicago Bears for the most by any franchise in NFL history, according to ESPN’s Field Yates.

The Chicago Bears had been the NFL’s winningest franchise by themselves since 1921. After 101 years, they’ve now got some company at the top. It’s an impressive mark for the Packers franchise and it speaks to their remarkably consistency over the years. Since 2000, Green Bay has won 10 or more games 15 times. That’s really, really impressive considering the incredible amount of talent that’s spread across the National Football League. It’s even more impressive considering how razor thin the margin is between winning and losing in the league is. It’s one of the most competitive leagues in all of sports–top to bottom.

The Packers have been lucky enough to have two of the game’s greatest signal callers lead their franchise. Since 1992, the Packers have had Hall of Fame quarterback Brett Farve and future Hall-of-Famer Aaron Rodgers. Between them, both quarterbacks have hoisted seven MVP trophies and two Super Bowl trophies during their highly decorated careers. It’s been an incredible run for the franchise to move from Brett Farve to Aaron Rodgers.
