Thursday night, the home of former Texas and Seattle Seahawks star Earl Thomas caught fire after a lightning strike, according to reports. It doesn’t appear he was home, though.

TMZ reported lightning struck Thomas’ Texas home Thursday night, but Fox 4’s Dax McCoy reported it appeared no one was home.

Thomas hasn’t played in the NFL since 2019 when he was with the Baltimore Ravens. During his 10-year career, he totaled 30 interceptions — including two pick-sixes — and 713 tackles as he became a seven-time Pro Bowler. He played a big role on Seattle’s Super Bowl XLVIII victory over the Denver Broncos in 2013, making seven tackles in the resounding 43-8 victory.

Ahead of the 2020 season, Thomas got into an altercation at practice and the Ravens released him despite signing him to a four-year deal in 2019. More recently, he was in the news after he was arrested in Texas in May for violating a court protective order.

More on Earl Thomas’ arrest in May

Thomas found himself behind bars May 14 after a local resident spotted him and alerted police around 8:35 p.m. at Spanky’s Bar and Grill, according to local news channels.

The warrant for Thomas’ arrest after he violated a court protective order by sending threatening messages to a woman about her and her children. He faces a third-degree felony charge because this is his second violation in less than a year.

Thomas and his estranged wife have both been arrested for domestic incidents over the past two years, stemming from an alleged cheating incident which led the couple to file for divorce in 2020.

The Austin, Texas judge signed the warrant on April 27, but Thomas was not booked until his arrest. It has been reported by the Austin American-Statesman that he splits time between two homes in Austin and Orange.
