Former USC star guard Boogie Ellis signs deal with Sacramento Kings, per report
Former USC star Boogie Ellis has been impressive in the NBA Summer League, and teams have taken notice. He torched the nets from beyond-the-arc, shooting 54 percent in Summer League games. On Saturday evening, Shams Charania reported that Ellis has agreed to a deal with the Sacramento Kings.
In the Summer League, he averaged 11.2 points per game, while shooting 51% from the field, and 54% from long range.
He’ll get a chance to compete for an open roster spot in Kings’ training camp. After going undrafted in the 2024 NBA Draft, Ellis signed an Exhibit 10 contract with the Sacramento Kings.
An Exhibit 10 contract is a one-year minimum, salary contract with no other bonuses. The Exhibit 10 deal gives NBA teams the opportunity to convert the contract into a two-way deal, but only if they do so before the start of the regular season. They are usually non-guaranteed, allowing teams to waive a player without taking a cap hit.
After averaging 16.5 points and dishing out 3.0 assists per game this year for the Trojans, Ellis wrapped up his career with USC in impressive fashion. He averaged double digits in each of his last four years with the school, earning second team All-Pac-12 honors in 2023-2024. One of his best games this season came against the Colorado Buffaloes, with the Trojans losing 92-89 in overtime on Feb. 17. Ellis erupted for 30 points, five assists, and four rebounds, showcasing his ability as one of the premiere scorers in the Pac-12.
Ellis played high school basketball at Mission Bay High School in San Diego (CA) where he was a four-star prospect ranked the No. 38 overall recruit and the No. 7 in the 2019 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
