Despite hitting the wall on lap 27 of 100, Frankie Muniz rallied his No. 30 Ford Mustang to a career-best finish at Michigan. Multiple times this season, Muniz has been P6. Mostly due to the domination of Toyota in the ARCA Menards Series. However, the NASCAR hopeful was able to show patience on Friday night.

Frankie Muniz is in a solid car with Rette Jones Racing, but he’s had sponsor issues. Also, the speed of the Venturini Racing Toyotas is almost too much for anyone else to deal with. When Muniz made contact with the wall, due to a flat tire from contact with James Finch, it looked like his day would be over.

He made it back from this, folks.

Despite the error, Muniz and his team worked on the car and eventually, he got it going up to speed again. Making his way through the field and using restarts to his advantage, Muniz put himself in third on the final restart.

He was unable to hold that position, but he did earn a career-best. He was the top non-Toyota and best Ford on the day. Muniz is nothing but consistent.

Jesse Love went on to win this race. He has dominated this season and the young driver might be the next one up in the Toyota development pipeline. Gus Dean was runner-up followed by Connor Mosack, Andy Jankowiak, and Muniz in the top-5.

Frankie Muniz ‘wanted’ this finish

Even as a 37-year-old rookie, Frankie Muniz has shown skill on the race track. For the most part, he can avoid wrecks and messes on the track that are often plaguing ARCA races. Even in his wreck on Friday night, he minimized damage and it helped in the long run.

After the race, Muniz spoke with Frontstretch about the race, coming back from the contact, and how it felt to get a career-best.

“Got back out there. We were really tight, we made some changes, we stopped I think four times and the car just kept getting better and better. Once I had the confidence that nothing was going to break, you know what I mean, I was throwing some good lap times down and we got a top-5.

“I’ve wanted this all season so it’s weird that it came – you know if I think back early in the race I thought we were going to, it was going to be one of our worse races and it ended being our best.”

A career day for Frankie Muniz, maybe a top-3 is coming just around the corner for the Ford driver.
