Frankie Muniz is reportedly taking the next step in his racing career. The former acting star will be moving up to the NASCAR Xfinity Series next season, per FrontStretch.com. He will drive for RSS Racing.

At this time, it’s unclear what car Muniz would drive in 2024. This news comes after the ex-actor completed a full ARCA Menards Series schedule in 2023.

Muniz ended the year fourth in the points standings. He concluded the season with 11 finishes inside the top-10 and one top-five finish.

Muniz has made it clear that he has a serious passion for racing. This would be a huge step for the former Malcolm in the Middle star and one step closer to a potential NASCAR Cup Series spot.

Despite the initial report from FrontStretch.com, RSS Racing released its own statement. It denies that it has signed any additional drivers at this time.

“Despite earlier reports we have not signed any additional drivers for next season,” the team wrote on X. “We have previously announced Ryan Sieg as returning full time. We are evaluating all options to help improve our team for next year and beyond.”

So, perhaps nothing is official at this time. That doesn’t mean that RSS Racing isn’t zeroing in on a deal to bring Muniz to the team for the 2024 NASCAR Xfinity Series season.

Frankie Muniz explains goal of racing in NASCAR

Muniz has never hid his passion for getting behind the wheel. Earlier this year, he spoke with FOX about his desire to drive in NASCAR.

“It’s not something that I thought I would ever do but it happened,” Muniz told FOX. “And now that I’m doing it, even when I got out of the car this past weekend, I called my wife and I said, ‘This is exactly what I was supposed to do.’ I feel the most comfortable in the car, even though I have, on the ovals and stuff, so little experience. It just feels like where I’m supposed to be and that’s a pretty cool feeling.”

Muniz also understood that, going into this, it wasn’t always going to be easy. But he never wanted to back down from the challenge.

“I know that there’s going to be tracks I’m going to struggle at this year and there will be ones I’m gonna excel at. I just got to take advantage of those and learn as quickly as possible at the other ones,” Muniz said.
