Frankie Muniz reveals challenge to sign sponsors for NASCAR despite Hollywood fame
Next year in 2025, Frankie Muniz will embark on his first full-time season in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. Surely, someone with the name recognition of Muniz will be able to land a lot of sponsors, right?
Well, it’s complicated. Frankie Muniz is fine for the 2025 season. He has all of the sponsorship that he needs. But there would be real benefit from picking up more partners, getting extra lap time in ARCA or the Xfinity Series.
Muniz is racing at Homestead-Miami this weekend. He spoke to the media about the challenge of landing sponsors. Even with his name and Hollywood status, it’s tough.
“There’s a lot of big brands on race cars. One thing, and this is nothing against it, but a lot of companies you see on a lot of cars are family members or dads or you know, friends’ companies stuff like that,” Frankie Muniz said, via Bob Pockrass of FOX Sports. “I would say it has surprised me even this week with the announcement, I didn’t know how well it would be received but kind of went everywhere. I was watching SportsCenter and they were talking about me joining the Truck Series.
“So, great in the sense that maybe it’s getting eyeballs to the series that don’t watch, and I hope so. But at that same time I go, my phone isn’t ringing off the hook with potential sponsors. That’s part of the job, you’re constantly searching for money. That’s, I would say that’s 90% of being a race car driver is finding funding to continue to do it. So, that said we’re great for next year. Obviously, we would love to add more partners because then I could just do more races. I could add ARCA races, we can do other things just to keep getting as much experience as possible and that’s our goal as a team.”

Muniz knows that it comes down to making connections. However, those connections aren’t easy to make.
“A lot of it is relationships and finding someone who believes in what you’re trying to do,” Frankie Muniz continued. “You know, and that’s what we’re trying to tell the story of what we’re trying to achieve and what we can offer to them. It’s gotta be a win-win for everybody, right? And that’s what we try to do as a team and me as a driver to make sure that they’re not just writing a check that’s having me go racing, they’re actually benefitting from what we’re doing on the race track.”
So, if it is hard for a Hollywood actor to get a sponsor, it’s hard for everyone. These things do not come easily. There is a reason why teams work to land as many partnerships as they can. Every little bit helps.
While it is difficult to get sponsors, don’t worry. Frankie Muniz has plenty of sponsorship for his rookie season in the Truck Series.
