The 2023 ARCA Menards Series has been a huge learning experience for Frankie Muniz. Watkins Glen is his next chance. Before getting into the NASCAR development series, Muniz had some road course experience. The Glen could be his best chance to get a checkered flag.

Of course, it won’t be easy. The Venturini Motorsports drivers have been dominant. The Toyota Camrys have been fast and left most of the field behind. Muniz has a top-5 finish to his name and is hoping to get another this weekend in a doubleheader that goes from New York to Illinois.

While the Illinois State Fairgrounds on Sunday will pose a different challenge, Frankie Muniz and his team feel good about their chances at having a strong race on Friday night.

“I have been ready to get back in the car since a few hours after we took the checkered flag at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park,” said Muniz in a statement. “Yes, the race didn’t go right, but I still learned a lot, and that performance will make me a better driver for the long haul.”

Muniz even sees it as a chance to win.

“The road courses have been races that I have circled as opportunities for our No. 30 Rette Jones Racing team to go out and not only challenge for a top-five but contend for the win,” added Muniz. “We had a lot of good speed at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course but didn’t have the track position we needed to capitalize.”

With a new sponsor onboard in AvAir, it will be a chance to show out for the newest partner on the No. 30 Rette Jones Racing Ford.

Frankie Muniz learned at Mid-Ohio

The last time the ARCA Menards Series went road course racing, Frankie Muniz fared just fine. He finished P6, a position he is very familiar with this season. It was a wild race that led to Sean Hingorani being suspended after wrecking his own teammate in Dean Thompson.

Muniz didn’t really have a lot of speed in that race. He was able to turn things around by the end of the Smart Coat 150. How will he approach The Glen with what he learned in Ohio? His team co-owner Mark Rette sees a lot of potential for the weekend.

“We all feel good about heading to a track where we know Frankie will feel comfortable,” offered Rette. “I think the track layout will fit into Frankie’s wheelhouse and he will have the opportunity to showcase his road racing skills and put our No. 30 AvAir Ford Mustang at the front of the field.”

It will be so tough to beat out Jesse Love and the group of Toyotas. However, Frankie Muniz and his team appear ready to take on the next challenge.
