Front Row Motorsports owner Bob Jenkins reportedly met with Stewart-Haas Racing employees about job opportunities

Front Row Motorsports owner Bob Jenkins was at Stewart-Haas Racing earlier this week talking to employees about job opportunities, per Bob Pockrass of FOX Sports.

FRM notably announced Wednesday it had obtained a third NASCAR Cup Series charter, though it didn’t specify where it’s coming from. However, it seems quite obvious to be one of the four charters up for grabs from SHR after the race team announced Tuesday it would be shutting down operations after the 2024 season.

With an additional charter acquired, FRM will field three Cup Series charters in 2025 for the first time since 2019. Who exactly will be piloting the three Cup Series cars has yet to be decided. FRM currently operates as a two-car team with McDowell in the No. 34 and Todd Gilliland in the No. 38. McDowell is joining Spire Motorsports next season while Gilliland is expected back. FRM also said it will continue its CRAFTSMAN Truck Series program.

Who will drive for Front Row Motorsports in 2025?

Chase Briscoe, Noah Gragson, Josh Berry and Ryan Preece are among the drivers looking for a new Cup Series ride in 2025 following the closure of SHR.

“We have a very positive outlook on the future of NASCAR. And as the sport plans for success, so do we. “Today that means having a plan for expanding back to three cars in the NASCAR Cup Series. I always have the vision to continue to grow and improve our team and that commitment and desire never changes. I am committed to the sport and its passionate fans and partners,” Jenkins said in a statement.

FRM last purchased a charter in August 2018, securing BK Racing’s charter in bankruptcy court for $2.08 million. This time around, FRM likely won’t be getting any sweetheart deal. B.J. McLeod most recently sold his charter to Spire last year for an estimated $40 million.

FRM has had representation in the Cup Series playoffs twice in the past three years, with McDowell earning automatic qualification via wins in 2021 and ’23. While McDowell is soon out the door, Gilliland has run well this season and appears to be a quality building block for the future.
