The Chiefs are notorious for getting help from the officials in the National Football League and they got another gift on Sunday night in the AFC Championship Game against the Buffalo Bills. Buffalo quarterback Josh Allen was trying to get a yard on a quarterback sneak, on a critical fourth down play in the fourth quarter. Officials reviewed the play, and ruled that he didn’t get it. Gene Steratore called out the officiating after the decision.

“I felt like he gained it by about a third of the football, Jim. That was just my take on the play. Tough, tough play,” Steratore said.

Here’s the play below.

After the controversial stop, the Chiefs proceeded to drive down the field and score a touchdown, putting them up 29-22 in the fourth quarter. It was a critical call that infuriated many Bills fans across the country, none being bigger than Barstool’s Dave Portnoy, who has $1 million on the line if Buffalo wins the Super Bowl. If the Bills get knocked out, he’ll kiss a cool million goodbye. Which is gonna sting for anyone, even if you have hundreds of millions like Portnoy.

Kansas City prevailed 32-29, and Portnoy lost his million-dollar bet. It was yet another classic between the two rivals that won’t be soon forgotten. But there will still remain plenty of questions and controversy around favoritism for the Chiefs.

In the end, Kansas City made the plays they needed to win the game. Samaje Perine hauled in a 17-yard catch to ice the game for the Chiefs in the final minute. The Bills were all out of timeouts, and it was officially time for victory formation for Kansas City. Patrick Mahomes and company are returning to a familiar place for the third straight season, the Super Bowl.
