Geno Smith injury update: Seahawks QB exits SNF vs. Packers, taken to locker room
Seattle Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith suffered an injury in the Sunday Night Football game against the Green Bay Packers and was sent to the locker room. The injury happened in the third quarter when Packers LB Edgerrin Cooper hit him low. The Seahawks announced Smith suffered a knee injury, and his return to the game is questionable.
Before the end of the third quarter, NBC Sports’ Melissa Stark gave an update on Geno Smith. “Saw Geno Smith get injured on Seattle’s last drive. When he came to the sideline after that, slammed his helmet down, aggravated and grimacing in pain, he limped into the medical tent with the head athletic trainer and the team orthopedist,” Stark said.
“His wide receiver, Tyler Lockett, went in to check on him, and then Geno walked off the field. Locket followed, even went in the tunnel with him there and gave him a hug. Geno then went in the X-ray room.”
Stark gave another update on Smith when he returned to the sidelines in the fourth quarter. “He sat down on the bench, he was bending and straightening that right knee trying to keep it loose,” Stark explained.

More on Geno Smith’s injury
“He tried jogging in place at one point back to the bench. You see him shaking his head. A bunch of people coming over to console him and talk to him. He has that heating pad on that right knee, and right now he’s standing on the sideline with his helmet on, but does not appear to be coming back.”
Before the injury, Smith completed 15 of his 19 passes for 149 yards and one interception in the end zone. It was a tough outing for Smith who led the Seahawks to four consecutive wins heading into the game against the Packers. Smith was hoping to keep the good times going for Seattle who are currently in first place in the NFC West.
