George Kittle is facing a hefty fine for his choice of an undershirt. but the quirky 49ers tight end said he’d wear the shirt again.

While Kittle’s three touchdown catches dictated the storyline between the 49ers and Cowboys last Sunday night, his tweak of the official game uniform still has legs. It’s what happens when you wear a gray “F**k Dallas” shirt and lift up your jersey to let the world see it. The powers-that-be never have a sense of humor.

The NFL has yet to fne him, but George Kittle knows it’s coming.

“I wore a personalized T-shirt, maybe an inappropriate word.” Kittle said in an interview with The Pat McAfee Show. “So, it is what it is. It was a decision I made, if they want to fine me, they fine me.”

He added, a bit defiantly, that he wouldn’t change his choice in undershirts. “I’d do it again.”

The NFL could fine him about $11,000 for his personalized wardrobe choice. Take a look at the infamous George Kittle shirt and read on for why he chose it.

Gary Plummer inspired George Kittle’s shirt

Count George Kittle as a steward of team history. Check that, he’s probably well aware of historical trolling, with this trolling happened before there was such a thing. He sifted through team history to an incident involving Gary Plummer. For the 1994 NFC title game, Plummer, the linebacker, wore a shirt with the same message for the important game against the Cowboys.

“I don’t make things up,” Kittle said. “We stand on the shoulders of the 49ers before us. It’s something I’ve seen my whole career, and finally, I just wanted to channel it.”

George Kittle played like an inspired man on the field. He scored the game’s first two touchdowns — a 19-yard pass from Brock Purdy, then one for 38. Purdy threw his way three times. Each time ended up with a touchdown. No wonder the 49ers had such an easy time with their 42-10 win.

Kittle is kind of a goofy guy. And San Francisco coach Kyle Shanahan said the shirt was just part of the tight end’s persona.

“[It’s] just Kittle, WWE stuff, entertainment,” Shanahan told reporters. “Not really much, just smiled at it.”

The 49ers next play the Browns in Cleveland this Sunday. There’s no real rivalry between two teams. Starting quarterback Deshaun Watson probably won’t even be starting. Kittle doesn’t plan on wearing a similar shirt. The historical animosity just isn’t there.
