Pittsburgh Steelers shared the latest injury update on wide receiver George Pickens and linebacker TJ Watt in the team’s final Week 16 injury report. Pickens has been ruled out for Saturday’s game against the Baltimore Ravens, and Watt will play as he was taken off the report. Pickens is dealing with a hamstring injury, and Watt injured his ankle last weekend.

The Steelers will be without Pickens for the third consecutive game. With him out of the lineup, the Steelers know the Ravens will defend them differently.

“Probably changes their calls schematically, and that is your job,” Steelers’ offensive coordinator Arthur Smith said, per Steelers.com. “Nobody cares. Nobody is feeling sorry for you on the other side. You have to have the mindset nobody is coming to rescue you.

“I think sometimes in this league you want your best players out there. When they’re not, what are you going to do about it? I think sometimes people fall into that victimhood of complaining and whining. That ball is kicking off at 4:30, whatever time on Saturday, and we got to go win. We’ve got to be better at the things we can all do.”

George Pickens and TJ Watt aren’t the only Steelers dealing with injuries

Watt practiced in a limited role all week until Thursday when he was upgraded to a full participant. It’s big for the Steelers to have Watt starting on Saturday as he has 11.5 sacks and six forced fumble this year.

On Thursday morning ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter shared more on Watt’s injury. “He suffered a sprained ankle last weekend against the Eagles. Came around a corner, came up lame, was limping along, didn’t look great, underwent testing. It’s a sprained ankle,” Schefter said on the ESPN show Get Up. “But it’s the type of sprained ankle that would sideline most players about two weeks. If you watch the video of him at practice yesterday, it didn’t look like he was moving. He looked a little hobbled.”

The Steelers also announced that quarterback Justin Fields has been ruled out due to an abdominal injury. Additionally, safety DeShon Elliott (hamstring) has been listed as doubtful, while cornerback Donte Jackson (back) and defensive lineman Larry Ogunjobi (groin) are listed as questionable for Saturday.
