Over his time with the Bulldogs, Shaffer was used all over the offensive line, playing tackle and guard for the Bulldogs. Most importantly to the Falcons, Shaffer possess talent that makes an intriguing offensive line prospects in the NFL. His versatility and past success makes him a potential starter at the next level, and at the least a great depth piece.

A former three-star recruit in the class of 2017, Shaffer was the No. 38 interior offensive lineman in the nation per the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average. The former Georgia star played his high school football at Cedar Grove in Ellenwood, Georgia. What NFL draft analysts are saying about Justin Shaffer

Furthermore, Lance Zierlein of NFL.com broke down what Justin Shaffer can bring to the NFL in his recent scout of the offensive lineman’s draft profile. The analyst is enamored with the Georgia product’s frame and ability to maul defenders, but believes Shaffer needs to improve his quickness.

“Mauling bear at left guard who plays with a salty demeanor but a lack of consistency,” wrote Zierlein. “Shaffer will struggle when tasked with blocking one-gapping fronts and sub-package rushers. He matches power with power and can win ugly when needed, but a change in scheme and upgrade in talent across from him could be a challenge he struggles to meet.

“He needs to prove his size and power can counteract his lack of reactive athleticism and foot quickness.”
