Georgia quarterback Carson Beck has made his decision on his future. Beck is declaring for the 2025 NFL Draft, he announced Saturday morning on Instagram.

The decision comes ahead of Georgia’s game against Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl on Wednesday. Beck will miss that game and the remainder of the College Football Playoff after suffering an elbow injury in the SEC Championship Game against Texas. Beck’s college career is now over.

“First off I want to thank God, for blessing me with the opportunity to play the game I love. Through the ups and downs, the highs and lows, everything that this game produces and provides, I’m eternally grateful for,” Carson Beck said as part of a statement. “Football has taught me lessons that will last a lifetime and has grown me into the person I am today.

“The past five years at the University of Georgia have been nothing short of a dream come true and I will forever cherish the memories that have been made. Thank you Dawg Nation for the time I’ve been here and to those who’ve supported and believed in me, thank you. It’s been an incredible journey and all these moments have ultimately led me to take the next step in my football career. With that being said, I will be declaring for the 2025 NFL Draft. Go Dawgs!”

Beck leaves Georgia with 7,912 career passing yards and 58 career passing touchdowns. During his final season in Athens, he completed 64.7 percent of his passes for 3,485 yards with 28 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.

Beck was viewed as perhaps the top quarterback in the 2025 NFL Draft class ahead of this season. However, his numbers dipped this year, and his draft stock appears to have slipped some, too. The injury Beck suffered in the SEC Championship Game could also impact his draft stock. Georgia released a statement about Beck’s injury this past week.

“Georgia quarterback Carson Beck underwent successful surgery Monday on his right elbow to repair his ulnar collateral ligament (UCL), performed by renowned orthopedic surgeon Dr. Neal ElAttrache in Los Angeles, Ca,” the statement shared. “A full recovery is expected with throwing to begin spring of 2025.”

With Beck out, Gunner Stockton is set to start at quarterback for Georgia for the rest of the season. He also appears in line to be the starting quarterback in 2025, as well.
