Glen Powell showered with boos for 'Chad Powers' scene at Georgia vs Mississippi State game
Fans at Sanford Stadium got quite the treat at halftime when “Chad Powers” ran onto the field. Of course, it was actor Glen Powell, who was filming a scene for his Hulu series during the Georgia vs. Mississippi State game.
Powell led the team of actors out of the tunnel at halftime as Georgia held a 24-10 lead over Mississippi State. Filming began in August after the series – produced by Peyton Manning’s Omaha Productions – got the green light in February. The announcer told fans to practice their boos for the Tennessee game and showered Powell with them as he ran out.
“Chad Powers” is inspired by the character played by Eli Manning on his Eli’s Places series. No release date is known for the series, but Hulu ordered 10 episodes.
Eli Manning went undercover as “Chad Powers” at Penn State during the program’s 2022 football tryouts. He donned a wig, fake mustache and gold chain and “tried out” for the team as a quarterback. It quickly went viral, and Hulu decided it was enough to turn into a TV show.

“The love for Chad Powers has surprised me in spectacular ways,” Manning said in a statement to Variety upon the show’s announcement. “I played 16 years in the NFL, but now when I’m in a restaurant or walking through an airport, it’s not uncommon for fans to scream, ‘Hey Chad!’ I’m so excited to team up with my friends Glen Powell, Michael Waldron and Omaha Productions to continue to tell the Chad Powers story and see what he does next.”
Powell is one of the creators of the show, along with Michael Waldron, who is known for his work on “Rick and Morty” and “Loki,” among others. The show will feature Powell as a “hotshot QB” named Russ Holliday whose career is derailed by bad behavior. He then walks on at Southern under the name “Chad Powers,” according to the official description for the series.
“We’re both diehard college football fans. When we saw Eli as Chad Powers, we knew that was the way into a big, fun story about this world,” Powell and Waldron said in a joint statement. “We’re excited to be part of this team, and can’t wait to get Chad in the game. Think fast, run fast.”
