Golf fans slam CBS for limited coverage of Rocket Mortgage Classic
Every golf fan wanted to see Rickie Fowler win his next PGA Tour event. Unfortunately, not everyone had the opportunity to see the 34-year-old win this year’s Rocket Mortgage Classic thanks to CBS’s lack of coverage.
Weather delays impacted tee times, throwing CBS’s coverage of the event into a bit of a chaotic mess. But fans were particularly frustrated with the lack of coverage during the final round — especially since the tournament was decided in a playoff.
Fans could only access the final holes and playoff via the CBS Sports’ video player and the app. Fowler defeated Collin Morikawa and Adam Hadwin on the first hole of the playoff. It marked his first win since 2019.
Needless to say, golf fans let CBS hear about their complaints.
“So Rickie Fowler is in contention at the Rocket Mortgage Classic and there’s just no TV coverage?” one Twitter user wrote. “CBS has an infomercial for a steam cleaner on right now, very smart programming.”
“The fact that we can’t watch the final holes of the Rocket Mortgage tournament is ridiculous,” another user wrote. “Golf channel and CBS should be embarrassed.”
A third added, “In case you’re wondering, you can watch this epic playoff at the Rocket Mortgage Classic on CBS Sports’ website, except that it’s not even loading for me.”
Because of Fowler’s resurgence over the past few weeks, golf fans really wanted to see him get his sixth PGA Tour victory. Unfortunately, only a few witnessed it.

Rickie Fowler thanks fans after Rocket Mortgage Classic win
The past few years have been relatively rough for Fowler, who hadn’t enjoyed a victory since the WM Phoenix Open in 2019. But the 34-year-old ended that lengthy drought on Sunday.
Following the Rocket Mortgage Classic victory, Fowler sent out a message to all his fans.
“Just, thanks to everyone for the support over the years,” Fowler said. “Especially the last few, we’ve been struggling. This one feels good and this one is for all of you.”
Fowler carded a -24 for the tournament, forcing a playoff with Morikawa and Hadwin. He then birdied the first playoff hole, taking home the Rocket Mortgage Classic trophy.
After a rough few years, Fowler has been playing incredibly well over the past few weeks. Could his first win in a major championship be on the horizon? He certainly has golf fans in his corner heading into this year’s Open Championship.
