Miami Dolphins (6-8) receiver Grant DuBose is expected to return home Wednesday following a three-day stay in the Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center in Houston, head coach Mike McDaniel said, per Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.

“We’re all excited to get to see him,” McDaniel said.

DuBose went to the hospital after suffering a concussion in the third quarter of this past Sunday’s 20-12 Week 15 road defeat to the Houston Texans (9-5). DuBose, activated off injured reserve to make his third appearance of the season, stayed on the field for roughly 11 minutes as medical personnel tended to him. DuBose’s jersey had to be cut off and his facemask unscrewed as both teams huddled and prayed around him. Medical personnel wheeled the 23-year-old into an ambulance.

Miami placed him back on injured reserve Tuesday, effectively ending his season. In corresponding moves, the Dolphins signed long snapper Jake McQuaide off their practice squad and signed receiver Isaiah McKenzie and quarterback Skylar Thompson to the practice squad.

Dolphins excited to welcome Grant DuBose back to Miami

Texans safety Calen Bullock said he did not intend to hurt DuBose on the helmet-to-helmet hit.

“My intentions was never to go out and hurt nobody, that’s never any of our intention. So, prayers out to him and his family. I hope he’s good. I was breaking on the ball,” Bullock said, via Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2. “And it just happened to be one of those type of plays.”

Miami claimed DuBose, a 2023 seventh-round selection of the Green Bay Packers (9-4), off waivers on Aug. 28. Before entering the NFL, DuBose was a star at Charlotte. In two seasons with the 49ers, he hauled in 126 receptions for 1,684 yards and 15 touchdowns.
