Grant DuBose injury update: Miami Dolphins place WR on injured reserve
Miami Dolphins (6-8) receiver Grant DuBose has been placed on injured reserve, Adam Schefter reported on Tuesday.
DuBose remains hospitalized in Houston, spending the last two days in the hospital after suffering a concussion in the third quarter of this past Sunday’s 20-12 Week 15 road defeat to the Houston Texans (9-5).
DuBose, activated off injured reserve to make his third appearance of the season, stayed on the field for a significant amount of time as medical personnel tended to him. DuBose’s jersey had to be cut off and his facemask unscrewed as both teams huddled and prayed around him. A neck brace was placed around DuBose’s head, and the 23-year-old was taken away in an ambulance.
Texans safety Calen Bullock said he did not intend to hurt DuBose on the helmet-to-helmet hit.

“My intentions was never to go out and hurt nobody, that’s never any of our intention. So, prayers out to him and his family. I hope he’s good. I was breaking on the ball,” Bullock said, per Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2. “And it just happened to be one of those type of plays.”

Bullock said he is not concerned about potentially receiving a suspension for the hit, which came with a penalty for unnecessary roughness. The NFL issued Bullock’s teammate, linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair, a three-game suspension earlier this month for the late hit on Jacksonville Jaguars (3-11) linebacker Trevor Lawrence.
“No, not really,” Bullock said. “My intention was never to go out there and just try to completely take someone out of the game and hurt somebody.”
Miami claimed DuBose, a 2023 seventh-round selection of the Green Bay Packers (9-4), off waivers on Aug. 28. Before entering the NFL, DuBose was a star at Charlotte. In two seasons with the 49ers, he hauled in 126 receptions for 1,684 yards and 15 touchdowns.
