Aaron Jones sends strong message of support to Jordan Love: 'We got your back'
The Green Bay Packers have accepted Jordan Love as their next QB1, and those inside the locker room are doing all they can to help him feel comfortable as he transitions from a reserve role to the full-time starter.
One of those at the forefront of the supporting effort is Packers star running back Aaron Jones, who wasn’t shy about letting it be known that the entire team is rooting for his success this fall.
“Jordan knows he has all the support around him. He’s out there making plays and we’re out there celebrating with him,” Jones said. “Guys are telling him around here, ‘Hey Jordan, we got your back.’ We’re going to make things easy on you as you make things easy for us. We’re going to feed off each other.
“It doesn’t just depend on one person. There are 11 of us — we have to go out there and play some team ball.”
Still, it might take a team effort to get through Love’s first season as the main starter under center.
Having thrown 606 yards, four touchdowns and three interceptions over his two-year NFL career, Love lacks experience — but Doubs gets to catch passes from him every day — so he of all people would know best. After the Packers locked Love down with a two-year contract extension, the Packers seem to feel the same way.

It isn’t just his running back that has stood up for Love this offseason. Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs believes Love has the potential to be Green Bay’s next long-term QB, in the same way, Aaron Rodgers did after taking over for Favre. In fact, Doubs, who is entering his second year in the NFL, doesn’t see all that much difference between Love’s and Rodgers’ games.
“I think Jordan is a really good quarterback,” Doubs told Dennis Krause earlier this month. “When you go from Aaron Rodgers to Jordan, Aaron was a really great quarterback, but I believe Jordan can do the same exact thing. So I don’t really see what’s the big difference.”
Doubs said there has been a noticeable progression from Love between this time last season compared to now. He believes Love will help keep the Packers’ tradition with their historically winning ways despite the bevy of departures this offseason.
“This organization is historic, and it’s only winning. That’s all,” Doubs said. “When you hear Green Bay, it’s no losing, it’s only winning.”
