Aaron Rodgers updates where he is in offseason decision process
More than 130,000 people tuned into The Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday to hear Aaron Rodgers speak about his future. They heard him say two sentences they probably didn’t expect.
“There will be no news today,” he said. “No decision on my future.”
Rodgers’ appearance came on the heels of a cryptic Instagram post late Monday night in which he spoke about gratitude and thanked teammates and his ex-fianceé, among others. That fueled speculation about what he might do with a conversation with McAfee looming. But he said it was just him expressing gratitude for everything in his life — nothing more.
Rodgers won his second straight MVP award this season and his fourth of his career. He helped lead the Packers to a 13-4 record this year to pick up the NFC’s No. 1 seed. Green Bay fell to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Divisional Round.
As he weighs his options, there’s another big decision looming — and it involves another Packers star. After all, his appearance came the same day the franchise tag can start being applied across the league, and Davante Adams is a candidate for that as he gets ready to enter free agency.

“There’s this one specific guy who’s like the best guy in the entire league at what he does,” Rodgers said. “He wears No. 17, you might have heard of him. There’s obviously the opportunity to tag him at some point, which I don’t think both parties probably wnat that done. They’d rather get a long-term extension done. I understand that’s a part of the decision and I talked about not wanting to drag this thing out.”
This past season, Rodgers threw for 4,115 yards and ranked third in the NFL with a 68.9% completion percentage. He also had threw for a league-low four interceptions and 37 touchdowns — giving him one of the best touchdown-to-interception ratios of the year.
