Last month, a construction worker died while working on at the Green Bay Packers’ home, Lambeau Field. On Saturday, Packers CEO Mark Murphy confirmed the man’s death.

“Sadly, Joshua Shaw, a carpenter with Mavid Construction, recently lost his life in an incident in the north end zone scoreboard. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and fellow workers,” Murphy wrote in the latest edition of Murphy Takes 5.

Following the incident, Mavid Construction owner Zoar Fulwilder released a heartfelt message.

“[Shaw] worked alongside his father and brother at Mavid Construction. As a family-owned company, this loss has truly impacted us all. Our main concern is for the well-being of our employee’s family, our team members who were on the project site, and our entire team who worked with this employee. His decision to be an organ donor will save many lives.”

Shaw reportedly did not die instantaneously, but did not ultimately survive the accident.

“Police and Green Bay firefighters were called at 10 a.m. Thursday at Lambeau Field for a report of a trapped construction worker, the fire department said on its Facebook page. Fireifghters extracted the trapped worker within seven minutes, the department said. He was working in the scoreboard area in the stadium’s north end zone,” Doug Schneider of the Green Bay Press-Gazette wrote.

Shaw’s direct employer was not the only one who spoke out on the incident. The project’s general contractor, Miron Construction Inc., also shared a message regarding Shaw’s death.

“We are deeply saddened to confirm that the individual employed by one of our subcontractors, Mavid Construction, who was involved in a serious incident on Thursday, June 15, on our Lambeau Field project site has succumbed to his injuries,” Miron said in a statement. “We extend our most sincere sympathies to his family, friends, team members, and others who have been impacted by this tragedy.”

Shaw, along with his crew, were replacing the two large video boards at Lambeau Field and renovating concessions stands throughout the venue. Lambeau Field will host its first contest of the season on Aug. 16, when the Packers take on the New England Patriots in a preseason game.
