It’s the big question of the NFL offseason: What will Aaron Rodgers decide to do next year? The Green Bay Packers quarterback hasn’t answered that yet, but that hasn’t stopped the guessing games.

Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst didn’t add any fuel to the fire during his press conference Wednesday. He opted not to comment after a reporter asked if he’s thought about trading Rodgers.

“Those are kind of some hypotheticals,” Gutekunst said. “I don’t think we’re going to go down those roads right now.”

Rodgers recently won his second straight MVP award and fourth of his career. Last year, he famously held out before ultimately reporting to the Packers under a re-structured contract. It paid off as the Packers went 13-4 before falling to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Divisional Round.

Rodgers appeared to teas a decision in a late-Monday night Instagram post, but told Pat McAfee there wasn’t an underlying meaning to it. So, the waiting game continues as he weighs multiple factors, including what Green Bay decides to do with Davante Adams. As of Tuesday, NFL teams could use the franchise tag, and that could be an option for the Packers to keep Adams in town.

Green Bay Packers GM discusses approach with Aaron Rodgers

Green Bay Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst spoke with the media on Wednesday about the upcoming offseason and the future of Aaron Rodgers. While he shot down multiple “hypothetical” questions from reporters, he did provide a glimpse into the ongoing relationship between quarterback and organization.

Coming into the 2021 season, tension were high after a tumultuous offseason between Brian Gutekunst and Aaron Rodgers which culminated in a restructured contract and promise of one more year.

“Coming into this season after everything that had happened last summer, it was difficult for both Aaron and the organization,” said Gutekunst. “But I’ve gotta give him a lot of credit with the way he came in. What he gave to our organization and the team this year was impressive. I credit a lot of that to him and the way he came in. Our relationship now… I’m very positive about it.”

As the season thawed everyone’s hearts on the relationship just a bit, Rodgers spoke more and more about his appreciation for the Packers on his way to another MVP award. However, the new offseason brings more questions about his future whether by trade or retirement.
