The Green Bay Packers released their injury report ahead of a Week 2 matchup with the Detroit Lions. Edge rusher Za’Darius Smith did not practice on Thursday because of a back injury.

A two-time Pro Bowler, Smith finished with just one tackle in 18 snaps against New Orleans on Sunday. Defensive lineman Tyler Lancaster and safeties Darnell Savage and Vernon Scott are the other members of the defense on the injury report. They each had a limited practice.

Tight end Josiah Deguara (concussion) and guard Lucas Patrick (concussion) also did not practice Thursday.

Green Bay is coming off of an embarrassing 38-3 loss to the Saints on Sunday. The generally potent offense couldn’t get anything going, as quarterback Aaron Rodgers threw two interceptions.

The Packers finished 13-3 this past season and lost to eventual Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay in the playoffs. Rodgers doesn’t expect the offense to perform this poorly going forward, and said he hopes teams try to emulate the defense the Saints employed going forward.

A matchup against division foe Detroit presents a good opportunity to get back on the winning track. The Lions lost to Detroit in the opening week and surrendered 41 points.

Rodgers will look to reconnect with receiver Davante Adams, who broke out for a career season in 2020. Adams led the NFL with touchdown receptions (18) and finished with 1,374 yards. He was limited to just five catches for 56 yards during the season opener.

The Green Bay Packers will hope the injury report doesn’t grow any larger before Sunday. It appears many players have a chance to go, as four of the seven players listed were able to practice in some capacity.

The last time the Lions beat the Pacers was in 2018. The game is set to kick off at 8:15 p.m. ET on Monday. Following Detroit, Green Bay next has a matchup with NFC-foe San Francisco.
