Packers offensive lineman Sean Rhyan suspended for violating NFL PED policy

Green Bay Packers offensive lineman Sean Rhyan has been suspended for violating the league’s performance-enhancing drug policy, the NFL announced Friday. He’ll miss six games as a result.

The Packers selected Ryan in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft after a three-year career at UCLA. With the Bruins, he earned first team All-Pac-12 honors last season as an anchor on the offensive line.

With Green Bay, though, Ryan has played one snap in a regular season game after appearing in all three preseason contests as a rookie. His suspension runs through the end of the regular season.

The Packers are still fighting for their playoff lives, taking a 4-7 record into this week’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Aaron Rodgers confirms he suffered broken right thumb in Week 5

Aaron Rodgers finally shed some light on a thumb injury that has plagued him throughout the season, revealing that it was broken in Week 5. Rodgers previously indicated that he suffered an injury to his thumb on his throwing hand on the final play of their matchup with the New York Giants in London.

On Wednesday, Rodgers spoke with media members about the extent of his injury, revealing that the thumb was broken that week and that he has not considered surgery on his hand at all.

“Aaron Rodgers confirmed today his right thumb has been broken since Week 5, when the injury happened on the last play in London. Here he is talking about it for a bit. Surgery has never been a thought and it won’t be after the season, either, he said,” explained The Athletic‘s Matt Schneidman while sharing Rodgers’ comments.

The reveal isn’t a complete surprise to fans as he’s clearly been bothered by his thumb throughout the season while on the field, although the specifics coming directly from Rodgers seems to indicate that he’s become adjusted to it. Rodgers not pursuing surgery for the injury also appears to show his commitment to this season — opting to stay on the field instead of stepping aside to have surgery and rehab.
