Green Bay Packers officially announce new quarterbacks coach
The Green Bay Packers made it official. Tom Clements is coming back.
Green Bay is bringing Clements aboard as quarterbacks coach — a role he previously held with the team from 2012-14, the Packers announced Friday. It’s a reunion with quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who still hasn’t publicly decided if he’ll return to the Packers next season.
Clements last worked in the NFL with the Arizona Cardinals from 2019-20 before retiring. Green Bay is bringing him out of retirement to replace Luke Getsy, who left to become the Chicago Bears’ offensive coordinator.
The Packers are seeing plenty of turnover on the coaching staff, including at offensive coordinator. Nathaniel Hackett left for Denver to become the Broncos head coach, and offensive line coach Adam Stenavich moved up to replace him.
After leaving Green Bay in 2016, he took a break from coaching before taking over as the Arizona Cardinals’ passing game coordinator and quarterbacks coach from 2019-20. Now, he’s heading back to Green Bay, where he’ll work with Rodgers again. At least, Packers fans hope he will.
Rodgers still hasn’t made a decision about his future in football. He famously held out last offseason and many wondered if he’d play another game in a Packers uniform. He did, and ended up winning his fourth MVP award in 2021. Bringing Clements back could be part of Green Bay’s plan to keep him in town, especially considering they worked together for most of Rodgers’ career.

NFL legend believes his former team will land Packers QB Aaron Rodgers
NFL legend and former Denver Bronco Terrell Davis sees Aaron Rodgers rocking the orange and navy next season in Denver.
“I do I, I’m not just playing, I’m serious. I’ve heard from too many insiders, too many sources … It makes too much sense for us not to get Aaron Rodgers. And that’s the talk of Denver,” Davis said. “I’m in Denver now, so I hear the daily talk on radio, and I hear it, and it sounds like that is the most likely scenario for the Broncos is to bring in Aaron Rodgers. It helps that Nathaniel Hackett, [the Packers’ former] offensive coordinator is our head coach. Now it helps, I’m not saying that was the reason, but that helps.”
You’ve got to think that Davis, a two-time Super Bowl-winning running back for the Broncos, has some legitimate sources inside the Broncos organization. Given that he took handoffs from current Broncos President of Operations and all-time great Broncos quarterback John Elway for several seasons, that might be a fair assumption.
