Report: Green Bay Packers open to moving Pro Bowl CB Jaire Alexander

The Green Bay Packers have shown a willingness in moving on from their star players when they feel the time is right — look no further than Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams. With the 2025 offseason underway, Jaire Alexander could be next.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Green Bay has had trade conversations centered around the Pro Bowl cornerback and are open to moving him “for the right price.”
Alexander is one of, if not the most coveted cornerback on the market. The 28-year-old continues to play at a high level *when* he’s on the field. But staying on the field, has been his issue. He played in just four games in 2021, and seven in 2023. Alexander missed 10 more this past season, notably tearing the PCL in his right knee in Week 8. He underwent arthroscopic knee surgery in early January to relieve his pain and swelling.
Alexander was effective in the seven games he played in, recording 16 tackles (15 tackles solo), two interceptions, a pick-six and seven pass defenses. Alexander graded out as Pro Football Focus‘ No. 24 cornerback (75.2 overall grade).

Packers salary cap implications of trading Jaire Alexander
Signed through the 2026 season, Alexander has a $25.48 million cap hit in 2025, per Spotrac. The Packers are on the hook for $19.1 million in dead cap if they trade Alexander.
Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst said Tuesday at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis that Alexander has not requested a trade.
“He loves Green Bay,” Gutekunst said, via Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “He has a lot of energy when he’s in the building. He’s still around. We’ll work through that and see where that leads.”
As for if Alexander is in the team’s plans for 2025?
“We’ll see, we’re working through that,” Gutekunst said. “We’ll work through that as we go along.”
