Green Bay Packers OT Luke Tenuta carted off field during preseason game vs. Bengals
Green Bay Packers offensive tackle Luke Tenuta left Friday’s preseason opener on a cart. He suffered an apparent ankle injury in the third quarter.
Running back Patrick Taylor rolled onto the back of Tenuta’s leg with 13:21 left in the third quarter. He entered the game in place of Caleb Jones, who also left the game with an injury.
Tenuta played for the Packers last year after starting the year with the Buffalo Bills and Indianapolis Colts. He was a sixth-round pick of the Bills in the 2022 NFL Draft out of Virginia Tech.
The Packers kicked off the preseason in Cincinnati Friday night against the Bengals, which unofficially opened the Jordan Love era in Green Bay. He played two series, completing 7 of 10 passes for 43 yards and a touchdown pass to Romeo Doubs.
Former Penn State star Sean Clifford came in to replace him and put up solid numbers through three quarters. In his first NFL action, he started 19 of 25 for 214 yards and a touchdown pass to end the first half. Green Bay selected Clifford in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

One notable absence at quarterback this year is Aaron Rodgers, who was infamously traded to the New York Jets. That means the Packers are preparing for a changing of the guard for the first time since 2008 when Brett Favre initially announced his retirement.
With Rodgers out of the picture, Love not only has to step up as the starting quarterback on the field, but also emerge as a leader in the locker room. He acknowledged the adjustments he’s made as he moves into a leadership role as a fourth-year quarterback who has only made one career start.
“It’s definitely changed,” Love said when asked about how his leadership style has changed, via NFL Network. “I think a lot of it is being able to see some of the older guys, see Aaron, how he leads, and get a feel for how that is. Coming from college, you kind of have your own way of doing things and you get here and see someone else do it. So you kind of grow as a player right there and as a leader.”
The Packers have two more preseason games left before the season opener against Justin Fields and the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field on Sept. 10.
