PFF: Aaron Rodgers ranked as third best player in NFL

Just in time for the start of the training camp portion of the NFL offseason Pro Football Focus (PFF) has unveiled its list of the top 50 players in the NFL. And coming in at third on the list is the reigning NFL MVP, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
Although Rodgers finished last season with the highest honors in the NFL, he does not top this list for PFF. He is ranked behind the Los Angeles Rams’ All-Pro defensive tackle Aaron Donald at one, and the San Francisco 49ers All-Pro offensive tackle Trent Williams ranked second. But that does mean Rodgers is viewed as the top quarterback in the NFL, ahead of the likes of Tom Brady, Patrick Mahomes, and Josh Allen.
“Rodgers backed up an MVP season with another, and even if he was a small step behind the leaders in overall PFF grade in 2022, his two-year run has been as good as anybody’s. His ability to avoid turnovers while still maintaining a high volume of big plays is unique, and he had one-third or fewer of the interceptions that the players ranked above him in PFF grade managed,” wrote the PFF team.
On a more somber note for Packers fans, former wide receiver Davante Adams cracked the top five as well, coming in just behind Rodgers at number four.

Packers put nine players on PUP list heading into training camp
Fall camp is only a few days away and NFL teams across the league are letting everyone know the players they’ve decided to put on the physically unable to perform list or PUP list, heading into the start of the upcoming season. On Friday, the Green Bay Packers placed nine players on their physically unable to perform list: Christian Watson, Robert Tonyan, Elgton Jenkins, Mason Crosby, Dean Lowry, Kylin Hill, Hauati Pututau, Randy Ramsey, and Patrick Taylor.
One thing to note about the PUP list is that all the players on it can be activated at any time. There is no time limit on how long the player must be on the list in the preseason.
The more concerning names to see on this list for Packers fans have to be wide receiver Christian Watson and tight end Robert Tonyan. The franchise drafted Watson out of North Dakota State with the No. 34 overall selection in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft. He’s expected to compete for playing time in his rookie season and landing on the PUP list certainly doesn’t help things. Pro Football Talk’s Josh Alper reported on Friday evening that it’s not clear what injury is preventing Watson from being cleared to take part in practice.
