Packers release Friday injury report with one major change
The Green Bay Packers have released their final injury report list of the week heading into this weekend’s matchup against the Detroit Lions. The Packers still have time to make adjustments before Sunday. On Friday, they added a player to their injured reserve list.
Packers Pro Bowler placed on IR
Pro Bowl defensive lineman Za’Darius Smith was officially placed on the Packers injured reserve list on Friday. Smith had been dealing with a back injury prior to the season opener against the Saints. Unfortunately, it appears that the injury has regressed and will require additional rest time for the edge rusher. With him being placed on the injured reserve list, he will miss at least three weeks of playing time. But if the injury lingers longer, he could be out for an extended period of time.
The Packers currently have five players listed as questionable for their Monday night showdown. Among those five there are two starters one offensive and one on the defense.
Safety Vernon Scott, defensive tackle Tyler Lancaster and starting safety Darnell Savage are all listed questionable. In last week’s blowout loss to New Orleans, Savage only had one assisted tackle. Scott failed to contribute as he was never checked into the game. Lancaster was able to record one assisted tackle and one solo in the contest.

Offensive questionables
On offense, tight end Josiah Deguara is questionable for the game as he is currently going through the league’s concussion protocol. On Sunday, he had one catch for 12 yards, good enough for a first down. He is listed as the team’s third tight end on the depth chart.
Starting guard Lucas Patrick is also listed as questionable. If he is unable to play this could be huge problem for the offensive line. They are already without All-Pro tackle David Bakhtiari, who started this year on the physically unable to perform list (PUP). Bakhtiari is in the midst of making his way back from offseason ACL surgery. The Packers are currently starting two rookies on the offensive line in Josh Myers and Royce Newman.
