Green Bay Packers rule WR Christian Watson out with hip injury vs Miami
The Green Bay Packers found themselves down seven points to the Miami Dolphins at halftime on Sunday, but they were dealing with some tough injury news out of the break. The biggest of two updates came at wide receiver.
Christian Watson, who’s quickly emerging as the top target for quarterback Aaron Rodgers, was listed as questionable with a hip injury coming out of the locker room and later ruled out. In addition, cornerback Keisean Nixon was also ruled out with a groin injury after leaving the game in the first half.
Watson, a rookie out of North Dakota State, has had an impressive first year with the Packers despite a slow start to the season. He entered play Sunday with 29 receptions for 447 yards and seven touchdowns this year. Green Bay selected him in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft.
The Packers wasted no time striking first in the second half as Rodgers led a 78-yard touchdown drive to tie things up 20-20 in the third quarter. Green Bay is still fighting for its playoff life with a 6-8 record heading into the Christmas Day matchup with Miami. It won’t be easy for the Packers to make it in, though, as they have to win out and hope for some other dominoes to fall if they want to sneak into the postseason.

Elgton Jenkins reacts to contract extension with Green Bay Packers
The Green Bay Packers turned offensive lineman Elgton Jenkins’ holiday season from a good one to a great one this week. Jenkins and the Packers recently agreed to a new contract extension, finalizing a deal for a four-year $68 million contract extension with a $24 million signing bonus.
That’s a bad present for Jenkins this holiday season and for his birthday, as the Packers offensive lineman explained.
“My birthday is right after Christmas,” said Jenkins. “So birthdays and Christmas were always put together for me. I feel like this was a great birthday and Christmas present.”
