AJ Dillon makes joke about first touchdown catch

Green Bay Packers and former Boston College running back AJ Dillon recorded his first touchdown reception in Sunday’s win over the Cincinnati Bengals and had jokes afterwards, comparing himself to a Packers great.

“TD catch thrown from 12 (Aaron Rodgers) !!! Imma tell my kids I was Davante Adams,” Dillon tweeted after the win.

Dillon’s touchdown reception was his first score of the 2021 season. The second-year back has rushed for 166 yards on 38 touches this season as well as ten receiving yards on the season.

AJ Dillon was drafted by Green Bay in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft after a storied career at Boston College. In three seasons, Dillon rushed for 4,382 yards and 38 touchdowns, averaging over five yards per carry. Dillon was first-team All-ACC in all three seasons.

As a rookie, AJ Dillon rushed for 242 yards and two touchdowns serving as a backup to Aaron Jones.

After an ugly season-opening loss to New Orleans, the Packers have returned to form with four straight wins. Aaron Rodgers has thrown for 1,241 yards and ten touchdowns. His favorite target, Davante Adams, has 579 yards and two touchdowns. On the ground, Aaron Jones has rushed for 309 yards to go with 132 receiving yards and five total touchdowns.

The Green Bay Packers survived Sunday with a 25-22 win over the Cincinnati Bengals. After a series of missed field goals from each team in the final minutes, veteran Mason Crosby redeemed himself with a 49-yard field goal on overtime.

The story could have featured a historic effort from the Green Bay kicker, who made four field goals throughout the game. However, in between makes there was a historically bad stretch. Crosby missed three potential game-winning field goals over four minutes.

Prior to what became the game-winning kick, as the team waited on Matt LaFleur’s play call, the Packers head coach went to Crosby with a question.

“What do you think?” asked LaFleur, via ESPN’s Rob Demovsky. “I’ve got this,” responded Crosby.

Without hesitation, LaFleur made his decision: “All right, you got it.”

Matt LaFleur trusted Mason Crosby and the veteran kicker delivered with a game-winner. Now, the Packers improve to 4-1 with their fourth straight win.

The Packers won without one of their best players, cornerback Jaire Alexander, who was placed on injured reserve during the week and potentially could be out for the season.

“Doctors are expected to decide in the next two weeks whether Alexander, one of the top defensive players in the NFL, will miss multiple weeks, or the remainder of the season, sources told ESPN,” Adam Schefter wrote.

Additionally, Schefter mentions more doctors are supposed to weigh in on Alexander’s shoulder before making an official decision.

“Alexander already has had multiple doctors review the test results of his shoulder, and more opinions are expected over the next two weeks before a determination is made, one source told ESPN,” Schefter wrote. “Doctors want to see both the test results and how well Alexander’s shoulder heals over a short period of time.”

After being place on injured reserve, Alexander will miss at least three games. Unfortunately, it’s evident that it could be even more than that.
